In 2017, Lucian Petrean made his Germany debut at the Regensburg Theater as Renato in Verdi's Un ballo in maschera, a role he has also performed at the National Theater in Prague. The same year he sang Scarpia in Puccini's Tosca at the Teatro Greco-Romano in Catania and debuted as Amonasro in the new production of Verdi's Aida at the Theater Magdeburg.

In 2018 his performances included Scarpia at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and Amonasro at the Opéra National de Lorraine in Nancy, in a new production of Aida marking the centenary of the founding of the theatre. In 2019 he performed Il Conte di Luna in Verdi's Il Trovatore in a new production by Arnaud Bernard at the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb and debuted as Scarpia in a series of Tosca performances under Daniel Oren at the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv and was heard for the first time as Rigoletto in Italy at Teatro Verdi di San Severo.

The Romanian baritone, born in Bistrita, first studied theology at the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj. After graduation, he followed his passion for singing and graduated from the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca. He studied further with Giorgio Zancanaro and Bonaldo Giaiotti.

While at the Academy in Cluj he made his debut as Rigoletto, a role he has since played on numerous stages with great success. Since then guest contracts have taken him to all of the opera houses in Romania.

In 2018 he was awarded the Excellence Prize at the Romania Opera Awards.

2017 gab Lucian Petrean sein Deutschland-Debüt am Theater Regensburg als Renato in Verdis Un ballo in maschera, eine Rolle die er auch am Nationaltheater Prag gesungen hat. Im selben Jahr gastierte er als Scarpia in Puccinis Tosca am Teatro Greco-Romano di Catania und debütierte als Amonasro in der Neuproduktion von Verdis Aida am Theater Magdeburg. 2018 übernahm er die Partie des Scarpia an der Deutschen Oper am Rhein sowie Amonasro an der Opéra National de Lorraine Nancy, in einer Neuproduktion von Aida anlässlich der 100-Jahr-Feier der Theatergründung. 2019 sang er Il Conte di Luna in Verdis Il Trovatore am Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, debütierte als Scarpia in einer Reihe von Tosca Aufführungen unter Daniel Oren an der Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv und war am Teatro Verdi di San Severo erstmals in Italien als Rigoletto zu hören. Lucian Petrean arbeitete bereits mit namhaften Regisseuren wie Renzo Giaccheri, Stephen Barlow, Grischa Asagaroff, Arnaud Bernard, und Oliver Mears.

Der rumänische Bariton, geboren in Bistrita, studierte zunächst Theologie an der Babes-Bolyai Universität in Cluj. Nach seinem Abschluss folgte er seiner Leidenschaft für den Gesang und absolvierte ein Studium an der Gheorghe Dima Musikakademie in Cluj-Napoca. Gesangliche Weiterbildung erhielt er bei Giorgio Zancanaro und Bonaldo Giaiotti. An der Akademie von Cluj gab er sein Debüt als Rigoletto, eine Rolle, die er seither auf zahlreichen Bühnen mit großem Erfolg verkörpert hat. 

Lucian Petrean ist Ensemblemitglied der Oper in Bukarest und gastiert regelmäßig an den wichtigsten Opernhäusern Rumäniens.

Im Jahr 2018 wurde er mit dem Exzellenzpreis bei den Romania Opera Awards ausgezeichnet.
